How we do it instead

Base coat, reinforcing fabric, intermediate coats, and a UV stable textured topcoat rated for foot traffic. If the plywood is not sound, we tell you, we show you photos, and we replace it before any coating goes down.

How long does deck waterproofing last?
A properly installed system over a sound substrate typically serves well past a decade in the San Diego climate, with a maintenance recoat extending it further. The systems that fail early are almost always the ones applied over unresolved damage, which is why we inspect and repair before we coat.
Can you just recoat my existing deck coating?
Sometimes, and when that is the honest answer we say so. If the existing membrane is bonded, dry underneath, and structurally sound, a preparation and recoat saves you real money. How long does the work take?
